Shout Out!

Several previous posts have mentioned my good friend Chelsea and her passion for helping the non-profit Attitudes and Attire. Most recently I wrote about her new business venture where she makes, and sells, custom-made aprons.

A few weeks ago, Karyn Bosnak asked her blog readers to submit their small businesses/crafty friends for her Holiday Shopping list that she posts on her blog. Guess who submitted their wonderful friend Chelsea? Guess who made #4 on the list? WOOOOOOO YAY!!! I am totally stocked! I really, really, really hope Chels gets some awesome business from the Pretty In The City Blog. (As a side note, aka tooting my own horn, the description of Chelsea's company is EXACTLY what I submitted. I wrote that!)

Tis The Season...

For eating! YEH! Despite all my recent "bandage dress" efforts, I have absolutely NO intention of holding back during the holidays. However, the exponential growth my butt will experience later this year is not what this blog is about.

This time of year is known for all the cooking and baking and time spent in the kitchen. When that much time is spent in the kitchen, it is inevitable that things will spill. On the cook. Well, my friend Chelsea (shout out!) has a great solution! She has started a custom apron company.

Chelsea designs and makes each apron. No two aprons are alike and can be made to order. If you, or a loved one, has a special vintage piece of fabric (table clothes and dish towels work great) Chelsea will create a special item for just you.

The best part of her company is that she donates 20% of the profits to Attitudes and Attire tm. These aprons make great gifts and are very functional. Perfect for this time of year! The Smell Of Victory!

Saturday was the suit drive for Attitudes and Attire™, and man was it a success! Chelsea did an amazing job organizing the event and raising awareness. I am very proud to say that my good friend delivered 84 suits today! Whoo hoo! In total, 248 usable business clothes were donated. Way to go Chels!

Sunday, my friends Karen and Randall invited me and my gray area to go to a polo match. How fun! I got to dress up in a fun strapless knit summer dress with my pearls. You can bring your own snacks and beverages. Our little group had champagne and fruit with wheat crackers. The match was soooo fun! Tickets are $10 and valet is complimentary. If you show up early, someone explains the rules and basics of the game. Matches are held at the Las Colinas Polo Club on Sundays throughout the summer. It wouldn’t be a proper polo match without the stomping of the divots and champagne at “halftime”. So get out there and “beware the steaming divots!”

Attitudes and Attiretm is a non-profit organization that promotes the personal growth of women who haven't been dealt the best hand in life. These women come to Attitudes and Attiretm to attend workshops focusing on job training, promoting positive self-image, effective communication and many more. One of the primary aspects of this organization is the Attitudes and Attiretm Boutique. The boutique provides image consulting for clients. They are provided professional clothing and accessories for work. And that's where you come in!!!

The lovely Chelsea is hosting a suit drive benefitting Attitudes and Attiretm. The poster with all the info is at the top of the page. Here are the basics: Gather all your suits and accessories that still look good, but you never wear/use anymore. Try to make sure the suits are pressed and on hangers. If not, please leave me a comment and I can try to help you out; anything to get stuff to this fabulous organization. Most importantly, please pass on the info to friends, family, coworkers... whoever!
