Dallas Sports

Want to relive the glory days? Looking to meet new people? Need a new physical activity? Whatever your reason for looking for recreational sports, they are available in Dallas!

There are 2 social sports leagues in Big D: Dallas Sports and Social Club and Big D Sports and Entertainment. Each organization has a variety of sports available; pretty much there isn't a sport that's not offered.

DSSC has softball, flag football, volleyball, outdoor soccer, dodgeball, kickball, bowling and basketball. Most sports are coed teams. Starting in April, a new men's flag football league is offered. A few sports have a recreational league (beer league for people who want to have fun and drink beer) and an intermediate level (more competitive level of skill.)

NOTE/WARNING: I unfortunately had the pleasure of playing on a co-ed intermediate flag football team. When girls show up in mouth guards and gloves, I should have run away. Fast. If that's the level of competition you're looking for, great, but I won't be joining you! Personally I'll be playing soccer and heading to the sponsor bar for beers and fried food. Each season, there is a sponsor bar that offers drink and food specials. Sponsor bars have included Frankies and San Francisco Rose.

Every season, DSSC hosts a Happy Hour at a local bar. It inlcudes all sports, the officials, and your friends. Drink specials are given to DSSC and there is usually some kind of food involved. It's a great time to see the players off the field. In the past, happy hours have been at McKinney Avenue Tavern, Black Finn and M Street Bar.

Big D Sports offers softball, bowling, flag football, golf, kickball, soccer, tennis and volleyball. There are also sponsor bars for after play entertainment. Sponsor bars have included Tipperary Inn, Metro Grill, Milo Butterfingers and Highpoint Restaurant and Club. Big D Sports also has a variety of social activities: St. Patty's Day party on Lower Greenville, Bar Olympics at Milo Butterfingers, First Friday happy hours, wine tastings, pub crawls and many more! Drink specials are a given for all events.

In April, Big D Sports will be hosting a women's flag football tournament. It is a double elimination tournament so you'll at least get to play 2 games. Particiapation and championship prizes will be given out and there is a sponsor bar to enjoy before or after the games!

If you don't think you have enough people to make a team, or want to sign-up individually, both organizations have forums on their website for you to find a team. You can't go wrong with whichever legaue you decide to join. In fact, join both for double the fun!
