My good friend Amy and I have been getting together weekly on Wednesday nights to catch up and be silly. (If you've ever seen the two of us together, you'll understand.) Last Wednesday we were having our "Wine Wednesday" and got hungry. On the menu was delicious macaroni and cheese and broiled chicken. Apparently, it is not a good idea to put the oven rack on the very top spot when broiling chicken because it WILL catch your oven on fire. Also, throwing water on the flames WILL only make more flames shoot out of the oven.
What does this have to do with Dallas? Dallas Fire Department! Luckily we didn't have to call them, but next time may be a different story. Recently, you may have seen some of these guys at stop lights collecting money in a fire-man boot. It's called "Fill-The-Boot" fundraiser. The money collected supports Jerry's Kids and muscular dystrophy. Unfortunately they were only collecting in Dallas the 24th, 25th, and 26th of April, but they'll be back next year! Some of the outlying areas of Dallas may still be collecting money. If you see them, don't just honk because they're cute, but give them some dough!
